Medical Surgical Assistant

Many operations are complex and require more than one medical practitioner to operate on a patient.

I work closely with the principal surgeon as a skilled doctor to minimise risk and maximise safety and efficiency.

I am a fully qualified medical doctor (MBBS, University of Melbourne). I am registered with AHPRA and I am a member of Medical Surgical Assistants Society of Australia (MSASA).

Fees

Medicare and private health funds usually pay a rebate towards the fee of a medical surgical assistant.

There may be an “out-of-pocket” component. My invoice is typically 20 percent of the surgeons out-of-pocket fee for my role on the operation.

(For example, if the surgeon’s invoice to you is $500, my invoice will be $100).

I will invoice you after the operation.
